In our June Weekend Workshop, shop girls Ellen and Anya will teach you how to custom-fit a straight legged trouser pattern to your body.
No two bodies are the same, so how could a single pattern fit everyone?

Top-Down-Center-Out is a fitting method that was created by Ruth Collins, a sewist and Substack author who is an advocate for sharing fitting tips and tricks to help everyone create their perfect wardrobe! This method is built to allow someone with no pattern drafting knowledge to alter a muslin mockup and copy the fitting changes directly to their original pattern. This method is most comparable to fashion industry-standard draping techniques.

Ellen Behm has decades of experience in just about every facet of sewing you can think of! She has been teaching and working at Stitch for 4 years.
Anya Peregrino is a Wardrobe supervisor and Costume specialist. She has worked in the entertainment industry in film, TV, and theatre for 10 years and has BFA in costume design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She moved to the DMV last year to work at the various regional theatres in the area and has taught at Stitch ever since!
