Jennifer Wiese, the founder of Brooklyn-based sewing studio, Workroom Social, and sewing camp for adults, Camp Workroom Social, will be personally delivering these beautiful fabrics herself. This collection of fabrics is designed specifically for garment sewing, and features large scale prints as well as small scale prints on one of my favorite substrates: rayon!
Some details about this collection that are really exciting to me are: it’s 100% rayon with a chic, matte finish which is reminiscent of washed silk, not too heavy and not too sheer – perfect for garment sewing; designed with the garment sewist in mind, this line is 54″-56″ wide, which gives you more layout flexibility and allows you to use less fabric; fashion-forward prints that are sophisticated AND fun – not too naive or cutesy.
I love that there are large scale prints, as well as more subtle dots and smaller scale prints. All of the prints are non-directional, which is especially helpful when trying to conserve fabric. The color palette is delightful (I’m totally team NAVY for life), and while all of the prints are great, these are among my most favorite!
In addition to these gorgeous new fabrics, Jennifer will be sharing with us her first sewing pattern created especially for the Miramar Collection – Blouse 1001 from Drape by Workroom Social.
Drape by Workroom Social is a collection of sewing patterns designed especially for drapey rayons, soft silks, and other lightweight woven fabrics that move when you do! Drafted to flatter and forgiving on fit, each easy-to-wear look works well with both printed and solid fabrics, so you can sew your own special collection of upscale basics.
There are several thoughtful details on this blouse – the deep pleat at the back and the sleeve plackets & cuffs are especially nice. Jennifer will be bringing samples of Blouse 1001 for us to try on.
I hope you’ll be able to join us for this fun and exciting event, Friday, March 10th, 6 pm – 8 pm!
