the first release since their rebranding!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maker:\u00a0<\/strong>Henna<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pattern Used:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I made the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopstitchsewshop.com\/shop\/c\/p\/Elodie-Wrap-Dress---Closet-Core-Patterns-x51065065.htm\">Elodie Wrap Dress<\/a> from Closet Core Patterns in View B with the midi skirt length.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Both views can be made with three different hem lengths, with or without patch pockets.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>View A has a shorter sleeve, but I like the longer sleeve length because I feel I can get more use out of the dress throughout the year. \u00a0I included the pockets in one of my versions.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5117 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8573.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/>\n<p><em>(Elodie is also available up to a size 30 in <a href=\"https:\/\/store.closetcorepatterns.com\/products\/elodie-wrap-dress-pattern\">PDF format<\/a>, which we would be happy to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stitchsewshop.com\/print\/\">print<\/a> for you!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fabric Used:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was a tester for this pattern, so I made the first tester version (the blue and white one) in a lightweight cotton sateen (from Art Gallery) that we carried at the shop a while back.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I had been saving it for a summer dress, and I think this fit the bill quite nicely. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The second one I made using the final pattern, because I love to see what changes were made after the testing process.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The fabric I used is called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopstitchsewshop.com\/shop\/c\/p\/Moonlit-Enchanted-Forest---Dusk-Till-Dawn-Rayon---Cotton-Steel-x50174314.htm\">Moonlit Enchanted Forest<\/a>, which is a rayon challis in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopstitchsewshop.com\/shop\/FABRIC\/WOVEN-FABRIC.htm?search_keyword=dusk\">Dusk Till Dawn<\/a> collection from Cotton &amp; Steel (it also comes in two other colors: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopstitchsewshop.com\/shop\/FABRIC\/WOVEN-FABRIC\/Rayon\/p\/Moonlit-Majestic-Violet---Dusk-Till-Dawn-Rayon---Cotton-Steel-x50174315.htm\">Majestic Violet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopstitchsewshop.com\/shop\/FABRIC\/WOVEN-FABRIC\/Rayon\/p\/Moonlit-Wild-Mulberry---Dusk-Till-Dawn-Rayon---Cotton-Steel-x50174343.htm\">Wild Mulberry<\/a>).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I loved this collection as soon as it arrived in the shop and knew I\u2019d make something in one of the rayons!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5118 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8627.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/>\n<p><strong>Did you make a muslin?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I made a muslin of the bodice both times, and I highly recommend it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The release pleats on the front provide the shaping, so it\u2019s important that they sit in the right spot.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In the final version of the pattern, the pleats were in a great location for me (exactly where I had moved them when I did the testing!), but a little too tall, so I shortened them by 1\/4\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>I am a C cup in sewing patterns, so sometimes I can skip a full bust adjustment, especially in a loose-fitting garment\u00a0like this.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>For my first version I did a small 1\/2\u201d FBA to give me the extra inch across the front plus a little more length at center front.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>For the second one I decided to skip it, since I knew the rayon would have more drape and be a little more forgiving anyway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have any tips for construction?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The only thing I did differently was to add interfacing in a few areas for extra stability. \u00a0At the neckline,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>I cut narrow strips (3\/8&#8243;) of interfacing and fused them to the stitching line before stay stitching. \u00a0Along the center front edges of the skirt and at the top edges of the pocket, I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopstitchsewshop.com\/shop\/c\/p\/Stretchy-Fusible-Seam-Tape---Knit-n-Stable---Pellon-x38520033.htm\">fusible seam tape<\/a>. \u00a0These are all areas that I worry about stretching out and distorting, so the interfacing plus stay stitching is like extra insurance!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5119 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8628.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5125 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8740.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/>\n<p><strong>What did you like about the pattern\/fabric?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I love wrap dresses, so this pattern gets an emphatic YES from me.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I love the sweep of the skirt and the softness of the pleats.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Both versions will get a lot of wear.<\/p>\n<p>The cotton sateen was a dream to sew with and gave me no trouble at all.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Cotton &amp; Steel rayon is one of my favorite substrates because it is a little heavier and more stable than many other types of rayon challis I\u2019ve encountered.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5122 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8707.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5123 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8637.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/>\n<p><strong>What did you dislike about the pattern\/fabric?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This pattern is cut flat (fabric is not folded) and uses quite a lot of yardage, so just prepare for a very long, careful cutting session!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 Even though this method is very fabric-efficient, I made a silly error when cutting out the second dress and barely eked out all of the pieces after that.<\/span><\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5124 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8650.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/>\n<p><strong>Would you make it again?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I would definitely make it again, maybe in something light and airy like a cotton lawn.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I could also see this made up for a holiday party (eventually!) in a silk charmeuse.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5126 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_8642.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stitchsewshop.com\/category\/stitch-samples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stitch Samples<\/a>\u00a0is a blog series that gives you a closer look at the samples made by members of our shop gang.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Henna is on the blog today with two versions of a fabulous\u00a0wrap dress from Closet Core Patterns &#8211;
