Turn the tray right side out through the opening and push out the corners.\u00a0 You can use a point turner to help make them sharp. Make a mark \u00be \u201c away from one of the corners closest to the fold (see picture).\u00a0 This mark is where we will handstitch to secure the corners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thread an embroidery needle with a length of embroidery floss (about 18\u201d should be enough).\u00a0 Tie a knot at the end.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To secure the corners, whip stitch in place at the marking, with\u00a03 or 4\u00a0overlapping stitches. (If you are not familiar with a whip stitch, there are some great tutorials online, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holiday-crafts-and-creations.com\/whip-stitch.html\">this one<\/a>. \u00a0Just keep in mind that for this project, the stitches will be very close to each other instead of evenly spaced, as most tutorials will show.)\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you are done stitching, tie another knot in your thread to secure the stitches. You can hide your thread tail by running your thread back through your whip stitches before trimming.\u00a0 Repeat for the other three corners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ta-dah! \u00a0You now have yourself a sweet little tray to hold anything your heart desires. \u00a0At the shop, we&#8217;re already thinking of all the different ways you could hack this basic pattern.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4580 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stitchsewshop.com\/development\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_3832-e1579325375429.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a sturdier tray, you could use a heavier weight fabric, like denim or canvas, or fuse interfacing to the wrong side of your fabric before stitching. \u00a0And how chic would this tray look made out of leather?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can also\u00a0be made in any size! Make a large one to use as a project basket, or a tiny one to hold your jewelry. \u00a0There are so many possibilities!
