The Old Town Handmade Society is excited\u00a0to launch our\u00a0new\u00a0blog series today: Must Make Monday!<\/strong>\u00a0Stitch Sew Shop\u00a0and fibre space are joining forces to showcase projects using\u00a0both yarn<\/strong> and fabric;\u00a0<\/strong>we hope\u00a0to inspire you to make a complete handmade outfit!<\/p>\n

We know many\u00a0of you are accomplished knitters and<\/em> sewists, and we love seeing your fabulous handmade clothes and accessories when you’re in our shops.\u00a0The Old Town Handmade Society has really grown into\u00a0a vibrant community of makers! We also know that while some\u00a0of you only feel confident calling yourselves\u00a0either a knitter or<\/em> a sewist, many of you have expressed an interest\u00a0in learning\u00a0some new skills.\u00a0We hope this blog series will inspire all of you to get stitching, confident bi-crafters and the bi-curious alike!<\/p>\n\"\"\n

Despite the\u00a0weird weather lately, it’s May in the DMV, which means only one thing: soon it will be so hot and humid you will want to wear the least amount of clothing allowed by law. We’ve got two cute projects that promise to keep you cool while looking stylish and all-around fab. First up, Emma Version B by Julie Weisenberger<\/a>::<\/p>\n\"\"\n

This pattern is published in the Cocoknits Pattern Workshop<\/a> collection of patterns:<\/p>\n\"\"\n

Put on a coordinating camisole underneath and you’re good to go! We recommend using\u00a0ITO Washi<\/a>, a fingering-weight “paper” yarn, a popular Japanese-style yarn:<\/p>\n\"\"\n

54% Cellulose\/46% Rayon\/Viscose<\/p>\n

Next up are the Chataigne Shorts<\/a> by Deer & Doe. These cute shorts can be made with either a straight or scalloped hem:<\/p>\n
