Friday, December 1 – Sunday, December 3
Lauren Taylor, the dynamo behind the blog Lladybird, will teach you everything you need to know to make your own pair of jeans.
In this two and a half day workshop, you will learn how to sew your own jeans, using the Ginger Jeans pattern from Closet Core Patterns – a classic skinny jean made with stretch denim (now available in a greater range of sizes, up to a 63″ hip!). We will go over everything you need to know to make a professional looking pair of jeans – choosing the correct size, tips for accurate topstitching, serged seam finishes, an easy fly-front zipper, and installing all that fun hardware.
The workshop will begin with a half day on Friday, to choose your size (Lauren has every size of the Ginger Jeans pre-made so you can try them on!) and cut and mark your denim. Construction will begin the following morning, and will continue for the next two days. Please note that while this is not a pants-fitting class per se, Lauren will cover basic flat pattern alterations and minor fitting adjustments as needed for each individual.
The Workshop
The cost of this Workshop is $650, which includes your jeans making kit*, lunch on Saturday & Sunday, 18+ hours of sewing instruction, use of Shop equipment, and lots of exclusive surprises and treats.
*Please review our Weekend Workshop Policies.
The Workshop merriments will begin Friday at 2 pm with several hours devoted to determining sizing, as well as cutting and marking your fabric. Stay around for a casual cocktail party starting around 6 pm at Stitch Sew Shop. Mingle with Lauren and our fellow Workshop attendees (minimizing that dreadful first day of school feeling Saturday morning!) and pick up any last minute supplies you might need for the workshop.
Saturday will bring a full day of making, beginning at 10 am. Lunch will be included, as well as some mid-afternoon pick-me-ups, and we will sew until 6 pm. Dinner reservations for the group will be made at a local favorite restaurant (Dutch treat) a pleasant walking distance from the Shop.
Sunday, return to the shop at 10 am, and pick up where you left off. Lunch will be provided, and you may depart as your schedule permits. The Shop is open until 6 pm; you are welcome to stay and sew as long as you like.
