You choose the project, and we help you achieve your goal.
More than one session may be required to complete your chosen project. Currently lessons are limited to two hours per session.
Please call the shop (571-777-8783) or send us an email (shopgang@stitchsewshop.com) to inquire about other types of lessons we offer – small group, shorter than two hours, or class make ups.
Please see our Frequently Asked Questions below for more details.
Lesson FAQ
- What can I work on in a lesson?
- Almost anything! Whether you are trying to learn the basics of sewing, need help getting started on a project, or just can’t figure out what your pattern instructions are saying, we can help.
- How do I set up a lesson?
- The best way to schedule a lesson is to visit our Lesson Registration Page.
- You can also come into the shop and schedule a lesson in person, or give us a call at 571-777-8783.
- If you’re unable to stop by or call, you can email us at shopgang@stitchsewshop.com.
- How much time can I schedule for my lesson?
- Lessons are typically two hours long.
- Our Primer lesson (learning to use a sewing machine) and Serger Basics lesson (learning how to use the serger/overlocker) each only require one hour. Please give the shop a call if you are interested in one of these lessons.
- Can I schedule a lesson for my child or teen?
- We allow children as young as 9 years old to take lessons. We ask that a parent is here with the child during the lesson time, for at least the first meeting.
- Teens do not need a parent to be present for lessons. (Note: our group classes are for adults 18+)
- Can I bring my own machine?
- Yes, you may bring your own machine to individual lessons, but you are not required to. We have machines in our workspace (Bernina 330 and 350) that we use for instruction.
- What do I need to bring with me to a lesson?
- You’ll need to bring all of the materials required for your project.
- Our workspace is stocked with the standard sewing tools you will need while you’re here: pins, scissors, rulers, rotary cutters, marking tools, etc. While it’s not necessary, you may bring your own tools if you prefer.
