Pants Fitting

Pants Fitting

Learn how to fit a straight-legged trouser pattern in this three-session class!  You will start by choosing your size and fitting the waistband, then make a muslin of the trouser leg.  After getting fitting help from your instructors, you will learn how to transfer the adjustments you made on the muslin to your paper pattern.  When that is done, you will make one more mock up of your pattern to evaluate your changes and make any final adjustments.

The pants pattern is not provided, and is your choice, as long as it is approved by the instructors.  Patterns must have a waistband (no elastic waist pants), cannot have a yoke, and cannot be close-fitting through the leg.  Recommended patterns: Jenny from Closet Core Patterns, Wide Leg Trouser from Peppermint Magazine, Eve from Merchant & Mills, Lander from True Bias, and Hollywood from Liesl & Co.

Please note that this is only a fitting class, and you will not complete a pair of trousers.  This class will be most beneficial to you if you have already made pants or trousers, as your instructors will not spend a lot of time explaining garment construction.  Also keep in mind that the fitting process will require you to try on a one-leg muslin, with bike shorts or tights underneath for modesty.  Depending on your individual progress, you may need to do some work at home in between sessions to stay caught up with the class.

More instructions will be sent to participants via email about a week before class begins.

This class is Level III, which means that you should be comfortable doing prep work before class, and possibly some work on your own between classes.
