Start your bra making journey here!

Sewing your own bra can seem intimidating.  On her first visit to Stitch, Isabella Serrano is aiming to change that!

In this class we will focus on learning how to fit and sew a bra for your body. We will be taking a deep dive into bra sizing, material functionality, fitting, and pattern modifications. You will learn tips and tricks for sewing a clean, finished bra that looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside. You will leave Bra Camp with new skills, knowledge, and bosom friends!

You may choose between the Harriet Bra by Cloth Habit (28A – 45H bra size) or the Willowdale Bra from Cashmerette (28C-54J) – you will need to purchase the PDF pattern, and Stitch will print the pattern for you. Both of these are great beginner patterns, because they offer support while still appearing delicate and beautiful. These are great first bras to learn bra making techniques that you can then use to make many other styles of bras!
The Workshop

The cost of this Workshop is $600, which includes our Friday meet and greet; Bra Making Kit; printing of your bra pattern of choice; Stitch Sew Shop Lingerie Tool Kit; lunch on Saturday & Sunday; approximately 16 hours of sewing instruction; use of Shop equipment; and a few little treats!

Please review our Weekend Workshop Policies before registering.

The Workshop merriments will begin Friday from 5 – 6 pm, with a casual cocktail party style Meet & Greet. Mingle with Isabella and your fellow Workshop attendees (minimizing that dreadful first day of school feeling Saturday morning!).

Saturday will bring a full day of making, beginning at 10 am. Lunch will be included, as well as some mid-afternoon pick-me-ups, and we will sew until 6 pm. The first day of Bra Camp focuses on fitting the bra. We will go over the importance of finding the right size and shape underwires as well as a thorough look into bra sizes and the materials needed to create an underwire bra.

We then begin the individual fitting process. Bella will provide sample cup toiles in all sizes that you will try on to find your correct size as well as four different shaped underwires in all sizes to determine your underwire shape and size. Once both your cup size and underwire is determined you will sew a toile of the band to practice sewing techniques and to make sure the band fits properly. (NB: underwires are not included in the kit, but you will be given instructions for sourcing them.)

Everyone will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one fitting with Bella. Together you will assess the fit and make the necessary modifications to your paper pattern. A fitting does require a certain amount of personal exposure, but they are completely private and done with the utmost care and respect. You may also assess the fit on your own. Whatever makes you feel comfortable!

The day will end with a demonstration on how to modify your paper pattern to your specific needs.

Sunday, return to the shop at 10 am, and pick up where you left off. Lunch will be provided, and you may depart as your schedule permits. The Shop is open until 6 pm; you are welcome to stay and sew as long as you like.  Day two begins with a demonstration on how cut out the bra so that the lace is mirrored on both cups. The day is mainly is dedicated to sewing the final bra. Bella will teach you construction methods for achieving beautifully finished bra that looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside!
