Eggs-cellent Scrap Busting

Shop Girl Janice has a fun, scrap-busting craft to share. Check out what she made, and the tutorials she used. If you make some yourself, be sure to share photos with us!

Early spring is typically a time for emerging buds, soft breezes, and scattered showers punctuated by a week or so of eggs tinted every shade one can imagine. But have you seen the price of eggs this year? Of course you have. Perhaps the annual egg hunt isn’t in everyone’s budget this year.

This year, save your egg investment for Sunday brunch and stitch your eggs instead! Not only will you winnow down that scrap pile, you’ll end up with colorful eggs that will never break or rot. (I know you remember that one time a hidden egg got left behind until you sniffed it out a year later.)

Martha Stewart likes her eggs in every size so they can be served in a tablescape, as vase filler, or in a game of hide and seek (i.e. an egg hunt). See how she makes hers here.

If you’d rather follow a written tutorial check out these classic blog posts at Retro Mama and Orange Bettie, who offer instructions and printable patterns.

Feeling egg-stra?
